The Fall 2025 cohort at Xavier University School of Medicine (XUSOM) in Aruba has begun their journey towards becoming healthcare professionals, with the Orientation Week and the White Coat Ceremony taking place on campus.
The Orientation Week was filled with a welcome meet-and-greet, academic preparation sessions, island tours, and social events organized by the university. The week provided the aspiring healthcare professionals from various global locations with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the university and their new surroundings.
The White Coat Ceremony, held on September 8, 2025, was a significant milestone for the Fall 2025 cohort. The ceremony was made even more impactful by Dr. Israel Posner's keynote address, who underscored the significant responsibility and potential impact of healthcare professionals. Dr. Posner, a former Minister of Health in Aruba and a Board of Trustee for XUSOM, highlighted the role of compassion, resilience, and ethical practice in healthcare.
The White Coat Ceremony was held at the Xavier University Auditorium and was attended by students, faculty, families, and local community members. Ravi Bhooplapur, President of XUSOM, welcomed the new students and expressed the university's readiness to equip them with the skills, values, and resilience needed to thrive in their professional journeys.

In his address, he reminded the students of the lasting difference that each healthcare professional can make in the lives of those they serve.
As part of XUSOM's integrated approach to medical, veterinary, and nursing education, the Fall 2025 cohort consists of students from all three fields. This approach encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and prepares students for real-world scenarios from the start.
Ravi Bhooplapur, President of XUSOM, stated that the White Coat Ceremony underscores the university's commitment to preparing ethical, compassionate, and competent healthcare professionals. He also emphasized that the students' journey at XUSOM matters, as they have chosen a path of service, science, and compassion.
