Volcano Art Center's Annual Forest Fair and Plant Sale Returns

The Volcano Art Center's annual Forest Fair and Plant Sale is set to take place on Saturday, August 9th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village, Hawaii. This one-day event is a celebration of Hawaiʻi’s unique natural heritage, combining nature, art, education, and community engagement around Hawaiian forest ecology.

The day's schedule is packed with a variety of activities. The Native Plant Sale, featuring local growers such as Allie Adkins of Lehua Lena Nursery and Volcano resident Ed Clapp, kicks off at 10 AM. Attendees can also enjoy a free Niaulani Trail Forest Tour throughout the day, a free lei-making activity, and a wood turning demonstration by Aaron Hammer from 11 AM to 2 PM.

The Biennial Wood Show exhibit, featuring 20 participating artists, will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM in Dietrich Varez Hall. Visitors can also sample beers offered by Lanikai Brewery and enjoy live music by Carly Kenison from 2 PM to 3:30 PM.

Highlights of the Forest Fair include displays, vendors, free forest tours, hulu making activities, the Biennial Wood Show Exhibition, a wood turning demonstration, and the native plant sale, which takes place in the Volcano Art Center's outdoor sculpture garden at the Niaulani Campus.

The Forest Fair also offers a chance to explore the Niaulani Nature Trail and the unique restored old-growth rainforest. Desiree Moana Cruz will be conducting a pua hulu making activity.
