Volkswagen prepares to introduce the 2026 Crafter-based Grand California at the Caravan Salon event
New Electric Campervans Arrive in the UK for the 2026 Season
In an exciting development for the campervan market, Chinese manufacturer Farizon has unveiled its all-electric campervan, the Farizon X-Van. Based on its Super Van platform, this compact campervan measures 5.02m in length and 2.14m in height, making it suitable for everyday use.
The Farizon X-Van features a 170kW electric motor with an estimated range of up to 460km. It includes a 3.3kW power station for its fully electric amenities, an electrically raising roof with a bed, and an expandable shower space in the washroom. The campervan's sleek design and eco-friendly powertrain make it a promising addition to the UK campervan market.
Farizon's electric campervan is already available in the UK, supported by new dealerships in London and Somerset. While the price in China is approximately £28,000, UK pricing details have not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen is set to showcase the latest Grand California at Caravan Salon in Duesseldorf from 29 August to 7 September. Based on the Crafter, considered one of the best vans for a camper conversion, the new Grand California comes with an infotainment system with a standard 26cm touchscreen, front and rear parking aids, lane departure warning, and "Front Assist" system.
The kitchen in the new Grand California also has a redesigned black faucet and a new wood look. Volkswagen offers options for the Grand California model, including a custom-fit thermal mat, blackout set for the cab's windows, and a larger 32cm touchscreen.
French manufacturer Chausson has not yet revealed specific details about their 2026 campervan launches or electric models. However, they are not the only brand with new releases planned for the 2026 season. Chausson has unveiled four new models, providing more base vehicle choice for their latest releases.
