Mass Protests Against Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Over Recruitment Exam Mismanagement
Protests against the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) are ongoing across India, with thousands of students and educators demanding reforms in the recruitment process. The unrest is primarily focused on the SSC Selection Post Phase 13 recruitment exam held from July 24 to August 1, 2025.
Students have raised concerns about gross mismanagement, including technical failures, abrupt exam cancellations, and administrative lapses. One of the most significant issues reported is the allocation of exam centers far from candidates' homes, with some having to travel up to 500 km only to find their exams canceled without notice.
Allegations of poor treatment of candidates at exam centers, use of force by police against peaceful protesters, and general opacity and unfairness in the recruitment process have also been made.
The protesters are demanding comprehensive reforms in how the SSC conducts recruitment exams. Their key demands include transparency and accountability, fair allocation of exam centers, improved technical infrastructure, a review of the vendor system, fair treatment of candidates, and an end to opaque procedures.
