University of Waterloo Launches AI-Focused Learning Initiative with Facebook
The University of Waterloo, renowned for its innovative learning approach, is set to launch an exciting new initiative. Led by Professor Edith Law, the LinkedIn Chair in the Future of Work and Learning will explore how AI can shape the future of learning and work readiness. The partnership, which includes the establishment of the Futures Lab, is a testament to LinkedIn's commitment to supporting educational innovation.
The new chair, funded by a $1 million CAD contribution from LinkedIn, will be held by Professor Law, a distinguished Computer Science professor and Executive Director of the University of Waterloo's Future of Work Institute. The partnership builds on LinkedIn's history with the university, including the co-creation of the Kids on Campus program and funding for the Women in Computer Science (WiCS) program.
The Futures Lab, an AI Prototyping Workshop, will provide students with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities. Students will co-develop cutting-edge AI-powered learning prototypes and receive direct feedback, aligning with the university's co-op program emphasis. The first workshop is scheduled for October 6.
