Unique ideas for preschool facilities or childcare rooms

The town of Landshut is set to welcome a new primary school, Landshut Schönbrunn, by the start of the 2025/26 school year. Located at Am Schallermoos 14, this modern three-wing building has been designed by local architect Christian Graf.

The school, which is expected to be funded by the Free State to the tune of around 14.5 million euros, will accommodate 300 primary school children. Each of the school's learning houses, or learning clusters, will be equipped with three classrooms for 20 to 25 students each, two group rooms, and a spacious central learning center.

In addition to the classrooms, the school will feature a cafeteria and a simple gymnasium. The outdoor areas will include a playground, play area, outdoor classroom or reading garden, small school garden, all-weather sports field, running track with long jump facilities, and a grass sports field.

The new concept of cooperative full-day care will allow elementary school children to be cared for by teachers and educators together throughout the school day on the same premises. This is expected to result in synergies for the children due to the more diverse offerings for school and after-school care.

Moreover, the new concept is also expected to result in synergies for the operators, as only one building needs to be maintained continuously instead of two buildings being held half-day.

A parking lane will be built in front of the music school/corner of Niedermayerstraße for parents to drop off their children. The school and teacher parking lots are accessed via the street "Am Schallermoos."

The school will operate under the concept of cooperative full-day care and will share close proximity with a middle school. An additional 800,000 euros will be allocated for expanding educational and care offerings at Landshut Schönbrunn primary school. The budget for the construction is set at 36.5 million euros.

The groundbreaking for the new building took place on August 18, 2023. A team room for teachers and educators is part of the spatial program of each learning house. The new primary school in Landshut, named Landshut Schönbrunn, is set to bring a fresh and innovative approach to primary education in the town.
