Unauthorized NEET UG 2025 Information Spread: NTA Identifies 106 Telegram, 16 Instagram Platforms for Disseminating Alleged Misleading Details
With the NEET UG 2025 fast approaching on May 4, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is leaving no stone unturned to maintain the integrity of the exam. Amidst a sea of 'fake claims' about the upcoming exam, the agency has taken decisive action against over 120 social media groups.
The investigation into the spread of misinformation began when the dedicated portal for reporting suspicious claims received over 1500 allegations of question paper leaks regarding NEET UG 2025. As a result, the NTA identified 106 Telegram and 16 Instagram channels engaging in misinformation, attempting to mislead students. The intelligence was facilitated through the recently-launched Suspicious Claims Reporting Portal.
The flagged channels have been formally registered to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, triggering immediate action. Telegram and Instagram have been requested to remove these channels, and the administrators' details have been sought to prevent the propagation of falsehoods and unwarranted panic among the aspirants. Theshared details will be handed promptly to law enforcement agencies for further prosecution.
As the NEET UG 2025 exam date is only weeks away, the Ministry of Education (MoE) is holding crucial meetings with district magistrates and superintendents of police from all states and Union territories. The ultimate aim is to ensure that there are no lapses in the upcoming NEET-UG, addressing the concerns raised by last year's alleged irregularities, including paper leaks, which tainted the exam's integrity.
