Ukrainian Gotha Association to Persist in Providing Assistance Beyond Political Agendas
In the heart of Germany, the club in Gotha is taking action to help those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. The "Förderverein für Kinder, Jugendliche und Familien der Stadt Gotha" is preparing the next aid truck, scheduled to depart on September 20, bound for the Tscherkasy region in Ukraine.
The club's chairman, Dietrich Wohlfarth, expressed skepticism towards big politics regarding the war in Ukraine. He stated that without strong pressure on Putin, nothing will change. Wohlfarth also expressed his hope for a swift end to the war in Ukraine.
Ihor Shlonchak, the head of the partner organization in Gotha, visited in early August to discuss further cooperation. Shlonchak reported from Ukraine that hope for a quick end to the war has diminished, many people are exhausted, and the last six to eight weeks have been more restless in central Ukraine.
The fourth winter of war in Ukraine presents great challenges to people beyond war zones, including the elderly, children, and families without adequate protection from the cold and access to basic food and hygiene items. The organization's goal with the aid campaign is to provide emergency medical supplies, food, and other urgently needed items to support these people.
The club in Gotha is seeking both in-kind and monetary donations for the aid. Monetary donations are needed for the aid effort, which would be used on-site to purchase food, hygiene items, and provide urgent medical care. More information about donations can be found at www.ukrainefreunde-gotha.de.
The club aims to continue doing what is possible with the help of people in the Gotha area. The collection action for the aid is ongoing, and the club is responsible for organizing the next aid transport. They plan to contribute to helping those in need during the cold season.
