UCLA students gain insights into the entertainment industry through an interview series focused on music
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is set to host the inaugural episode of "Office Hours," a live-streamed interview series, on January 19. The series, produced by the Music Industry Committee at UCLA (MIC at UCLA), UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, Tumblr, and WERD, aims to provide insights into the music industry.
The first guest for the series is Kaskade, a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, and remixer. Kaskade expressed his excitement about the opportunity to talk about the music industry with UCLA students. He will have a conversation with music journalist Steve Baltin, who curates the live magazine experience known as WERD.
The Music Industry Committee at UCLA, founded in fall 2016 by brothers David and Allan Brik, is composed of undergraduate and graduate students. It provides events and networking opportunities to students who wish to learn more about the music industry. UCLA students and faculty can join Office Hours live, requiring registration with a valid UCLA ID.
UCLA students and the Tumblr community can submit questions for guests in advance and during the live interview at the WERD Tumblr Ask Box. Admission to Office Hours is free.
Following Kaskade, American rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly is scheduled to appear on "Office Hours" in February. More guests for the series will be announced.
While specific details about upcoming guests and viewing platforms are not publicly available, interested individuals can check UCLA's official YouTube channel or UCLA Athletics channels, follow UCLA Athletics or UCLA-related social media accounts, or visit UCLA’s official event calendars or communication platforms for updates.
WERD has hosted events in various cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Las Vegas, featuring artists such as Brandon Boyd of Incubus, G-Eazy, Moby, Dua Lipa, Joy Formidable, and Linkin Park's Brad Delson.
