Turkish graduates from universities in Turkey significantly influence Somalia's administrative and scholarly spheres.

In the heart of Somalia, Mogadishu University stands as a beacon of knowledge and progress. Established in 1997, it was the first university founded after the civil war, marking a significant step towards the nation's rebuilding.

The institution, with over 6,000 students enrolled, has played a crucial role in shaping Somalia's future leaders. Many of its faculty and administrative staff are graduates of Turkish universities, bringing with them the wisdom and expertise gained from their education.

One such individual is Adviser Muhammed Hajj, a graduate of Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, who majored in Psychological Counseling and Guidance. Upon his return to Somalia, Hajj immediately dedicated himself to serving his country. He currently serves in the Somalian government, applying the knowledge and experience he gained in Turkey to contribute to his nation's development.

Hajj is not alone. The most skilled and advanced members of Somalia's armed forces, as well as many government officials, are those who received their education in Turkey. The Somali Turkish Graduates Association, founded in 2016, guides returning graduates towards employment opportunities, further cementing the impact of Turkish education in Somalia.

Mahdi Musa Hasan, a lecturer at Mogadishu University, is another example. He graduated from Erciyes University in Kayseri in 2016 with a degree in Political Science and Public Administration and completed his master's in International Relations at Selcuk University in Konya in 2022.

The Turkish government, in collaboration with international organisations such as the United Nations and the European Union, has been actively involved in Somalia's development. They have supported peacekeeping, security sector reform, and capacity building for local forces. For instance, Germany contributes through police missions and civilian experts within UN and EU frameworks in Somalia, focusing on security, peace, and stability in the region.

In addition to academia, Turkish education has also influenced other sectors. The Turkish Embassy designed a collaborative program called 'Hackathon in Somalia' to help young people develop innovative solutions for challenges in various sectors.

Moreover, Turkish has become widely spoken in Somali institutions, with many officials fluent in the language. This cultural exchange further strengthens the bond between the two nations.

Mogadishu University has also received funding from Turkey to establish a university radio station and engineering labs, further enhancing its capacity to educate and innovate. Simad University, another significant institution, also boasts many faculty members and administrators who studied in Turkey.

In conclusion, the impact of Turkish education on Somalia cannot be overstated. The knowledge, skills, and experiences gained by Somali students in Turkey are being applied to various sectors, driving the nation's development and contributing to a brighter future for all.
