TU Dresden Unveils 'CeTIBAR', a New Robotics Lab for Tactile Internet Research
TU Dresden, a pioneer in human-machine interaction research, has opened 'CeTIBAR', a new lab dedicated to robotics and the tactile internet. The event, attended by high-ranking guests, showcased collaborative robots, or 'cobots', working alongside a star chef, highlighting the potential of these technologies in the quest for advanced human-machine interaction.
The lab, situated in the Barkhausen Building, is a result of the Excellence Cluster 'CeTI'. It aims to make robot capabilities tangible and foster interdisciplinary exchange. The opening featured cobots assisting chef Benjamin Biedlingmaier in tasks like plating and serving. Prof. Ursula M. Staudinger, TU Dresden's President, commented on the institution's leading role in this field, driving innovation and societal participation.
The 'CeTIBAR' lab brings together research groups working on cobots and the future concept of the tactile internet. These teams, part of the CeTI research cluster, explore technologies like tactile computing, intelligent networks, haptic codecs, sensors and actuators, and human-machine interaction. The lab's goal is to advance learning and working with robots, as part of the 'Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop' excellence cluster.
The opening of 'CeTIBAR' at TU Dresden demonstrates the university's commitment to advancing human-machine interaction research. With high-ranking guests in attendance and cobots assisting a star chef, the event showcased the potential of these technologies to support and enhance human labor, freeing up space for creativity in the quest for a more integrated future.
