United States Government Plans to Revoke Remaining Federal Funds from Harvard University

The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to cut off remaining financial support for Harvard University, as per several US media outlets. The US government has allegedly drafted a letter instructing relevant authorities to terminate existing contracts with the prestigious institution based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The New York Times reportedly obtained a draft of the letter.

Sources indicate that these contracts amount to approximately $100 million in US dollars, but there has been no official confirmation from the White House regarding these plans.

The Trump administration has been pressuring universities, accusing them of a liberal bias and failing to adequately combat antisemitism. Pro-Palestinian protests on US campuses, while less frequent than during the Gaza conflict, continue to be a point of contention. Harvard is one of the universities accused of enabling antisemitic incidents on campus.

In contrast to other universities, Harvard has chosen to resist the government's far-reaching demands, such as those related to admissions procedures, behavioral rules, and personnel decisions. As a result, the administration has withheld billions of dollars from the university and ordered last week that Harvard may not accept new international students and existing foreign students must transfer to other universities, risking their US residency status.

Harvard is challenging the Trump administration's actions in court. A preliminary victory was scored last week when a judge temporarily halted the ban on admitting international students. However, the legal battle is far from over.

  3. The US media outlets covering the revocation of federal funds from Harvard University have also reported on the university's stance against government demands, highlighting its resistance to changes in admissions procedures, behavioral rules, and personnel decisions, and the subsequent impact on policy-and-legislation concerning education in the United States.
