Three Regions to Get Extended OGE Experiment for Ninth-Graders
A new initiative is set to extend an ongoing experiment in three regions, allowing ninth-grade students planning for college to take the Unified State Exam (OGE) in only two subjects: Russian and mathematics. The extension aims to boost participation in the experiment, which is currently scheduled to end in late 2025.
The experiment, launched in three regions, has been in effect since 2023. It allows students to take the OGE in just two subjects, compared to the usual four. This change aims to increase the number of participants in the experiment. Recently, discussions on the effectiveness of this experiment led to an initiative to extend it.
The extension, proposed for Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Lipetsk region, would see the experiment continue until 2029. This move is expected to provide more ninth-grade students with the opportunity to take the OGE in fewer subjects, potentially reducing stress and workload during this crucial academic year.
The initiative to extend the experiment until 2029 is set to benefit ninth-grade students in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Lipetsk region. By allowing them to take the OGE in only two subjects, the extension aims to increase participation and provide a less stressful exam experience for college-bound students.
