Three foundations from the Kansas City area provide Park University with a grant of $1.8 million for the Plaster Center development project.
Park University's New Business Centre Takes Shape
Park University's School of Business is set to move into a state-of-the-art facility, the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, by summer 2019. The centre, located on the east side of the University's main entrance, will span 20,500 square feet and boast a variety of innovative spaces.
The Plaster Center will feature a video production studio, a lounge for commuter students, and a special innovation and entrepreneurship lab. It will also house the Park Global Warrior Center, further enhancing the University's focus on global education and leadership.
The groundbreaking for the Plaster Center was anticipated in summer 2019, with more than $4.2 million in total commitments. Key contributors to the project include the Goppert Foundation, based in Kansas City, Mo., which donated $300,000, and an anonymous Kansas-based foundation, which contributed $500,000. The Sunderland Foundation, based in Overland Park, Kan., also lent its support with a $1 million donation.
Peter deSilva, president of retail distribution for TD Ameritrade, expressed his excitement about the support from Kansas City family foundations. He noted that the backing of these foundations is a testament to the importance of the project and Park University's impact on the regional workforce.
