Applications are now open for the regional selection of the television olympiad 'Smart Kids and Smart Teens' in the Sverdlovsk region. The event, which aims to showcase the best and brightest young minds, offers a range of exciting opportunities for participants.
The selection process involves a creative assignment, including an essay and questions that test erudition. Winners of the regional final will receive grants of 100,000 rubles each, with prize-winners getting 50,000 rubles. The top three regional winners will also have their trips to the federal final in Moscow funded, along with a 100,000 ruble prize each.
To prepare, participants can take free online courses from the 'Golden Section' foundation. The Sverdlovsk region, known for its strong intellectual traditions, is expected to produce exceptional talents this year, as noted by Yuri Vyzemskiy, the program's author. Winners of the final olympiad can gain direct entry to MGIMO and receive a monthly scholarship of 50,000 rubles from 'Empathy' for their first academic year.
Tenth-grade students interested in participating should contact their school teachers and submit a motivational letter by October 10. The regional final will select three winners and additional prize-winners to represent the Sverdlovsk region at the federal television olympiad. Last year's winners were Maria Malцева from Perm and Kirill Epishenkov from Yekaterinburg, setting a high standard for this year's competition.
