Students from the UAE's GEMS education system excel in the 2025 A-Level and BTEC examination results
In a landmark year, the GEMS Education network has achieved outstanding A-level and BTEC results across its 22 schools in the UAE and Qatar. A record 1,999 students sat 5,379 A-level exams, marking a significant year-on-year improvement.
Principal/CEO of GEMS Wellington Academy - Silicon Oasis, Sarah O'Regan, stated that the Class of 2025 has truly set a new benchmark. The school saw a 15-percentage point rise in A grades and an 18-point increase in A-A grades, alongside impressive BTEC outcomes.
GEMS Cambridge International Private School - Sharjah also reported a notable improvement, with a nine percentage point growth in A grades awarded. GEMS Wesgreen International School - Sharjah experienced a 16 percentage point year-on-year rise in students achieving A-A grades.
In BTEC Level 3 courses, the number of students participating doubled compared to the previous year, totaling 412. Nearly two-thirds (62%) of BTEC Level 3 students earned a Distinction Star or Distinction. Notably, 32% of BTEC Level 3 students achieved the highest grade of Distinction Star.
Lisa Crausby OBE, Group Chief Education Officer at GEMS Education, expressed excitement about where the students will go next, equipped with excellent results, values, resilience, and ambition. The performance positions many students for offers from prestigious global universities, including Russell Group institutions in the UK and top universities worldwide.
With 32% of grades at A-A and 58% at A-B, these results reflect GEMS Education’s sustained academic excellence and ongoing year-on-year improvement across both academic and vocational qualifications, supported by dedicated teaching and growing student participation. GEMS FirstPoint School – The Villa also celebrated exceptional A-level and BTEC successes, emphasizing high academic standards in both pathways.
