Dinner with President Rougeau: A Special Evening for Students

On two separate occasions, the Classes of 2026 and 2027 had the privilege of dining with President Vincent Rougeau and his wife, Dr. Robin Kornegay-Rougeau, at their residence.

During the dinner on April 3, 2027, approximately 20 students were in attendance, seated at two tables – one with President Rougeau and the other with Dr. Kornegay-Rougeau. The evening provided a unique opportunity for students to engage with each other and with the President in a meaningful way.

Although no specific feedback or opinions about the dinners were reported, topics of discussion included study abroad, hometowns, campus teams, and campus life. The conversations were also said to have touched upon summer jobs, ideas about the Rotman's property, and feedback about the school.

Julianne Hawley '27 shared her thoughts, stating that the dinner allowed her to speak with the Rougeaus outside of a school context and to share her opinions about the Rotman's property.

In 2024, a dinner was hosted by President Rougeau for a select group of students from the Class of 2026, where discussions were similar in nature. After dinner, President Rougeau and Dr. Kornegay-Rougeau switched tables to speak with all students on a smaller scale.

The dinners were part of a busy schedule for President Rougeau during Family Weekend, which also included the inauguration. Joey Abrams '23 reported on President Rougeau's schedule, detailing events from Friday night's dinner to Saturday's football game.

Another event, "An Evening of Conversation," took place at Holy Cross. This event saw President Rougeau moving quickly from campus building to campus building and all around Worcester. Notably, Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife, Christine Grady, concluded their series of panels and discussions at Holy Cross on March 19th, 2023.

Throughout these events, students enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and conversation with the Rougeaus and among themselves. Despite extensive searches, there are currently no relevant details about potential plans for the Rotman property at Holy Cross as discussed by students with President Vincent Rougeau.

  1. The tradition of dining with the university's president continued on April 3, 2027, when students from the Classes of 2026 and 2027 were invited to a special event on campus.
