Student Hanna Alwine, graduating in '26
Hanna Barbara Hölling, a rising senior from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, is making her mark in the academic world with a diverse range of interests and accomplishments.
With a PhD from the University of Amsterdam under her belt, Hanna has demonstrated her expertise in art history, technology, and conservation, having taught these subjects in various educational settings. Her academic background is complemented by her role as an author, artist, and historian, with a focus on art, science, and cinema.
On campus, Hanna is an active member of the community. She enjoys spending her free time walking, running, and biking on the rail-to-trail, and taking a moment to sit and gaze at the clouds. Off campus, Hanna can be found section hiking the Pennsylvania part of the Appalachian Trail, accompanied by her family's three cats.
Hanna's passion for the environment extends beyond her personal pursuits. She has been involved with tree planting, watering, and grant writing with the Western Land Conservancy, demonstrating her commitment to preserving and protecting the natural world.
In her journalism career, Hanna has worked for several publications, including the Oberlin Review, the Grape, Wilder Voice, Carrion Magazine, and Morocco World News, where she interned during a semester abroad in Rabat, Morocco. She spent this time studying French and Arabic, immersing herself in the local culture and language.
Outside of her curricular activities, Hanna's interests lie in art history, journalism, and the environment. She has also served as a gallery guide at the Allen Memorial Art Museum, further showcasing her dedication to the arts.
