Strategies for Assessing Personal Contentment Levels
Finding Your Way to Personal Fulfillment
Wondering how to gauge personal fulfillment? Let's dive into it!
Three ways to evaluate your personal fulfillment
With my expertise as an internationally board certified Life Coach specializing in personal fulfillment, let's explore some methods to help you on your journey.
The Wheel of Life
The "wheel of life" or "life balance wheel" is a popular tool for measuring personal fulfillment and life satisfaction across different aspects of your life. Although the specific words might vary between versions, it typically includes sections like:
- Physical health.
- Professional life/career.
- Family, friends, community.
- Financial health.
- Romantic life.
- Self-care and wellness.
- Hobbies and social life.
- Spirituality and personal development.
These segments help you assess the amount of attention you give to each area, your level of satisfaction within each section, and the areas that require improvement.
Keep in mind that some sections might overlap, or you might find them difficult to assess. In those cases, you may want to simplify it or think about it more generally, leading us to our next example:
Mind, Body, Spirit
This approach views personal fulfillment as your mental health, physical health, and connection to others and yourself.
Mental health:
Focus on your mental clarity, emotions, and the overall direction of your thoughts.
Physical health:
Examine your eating habits, exercise routines, and overall self-care.
Spirit:
Consider relationships as your spiritual connection. This includes your relationships with others, the world, and yourself.
To achieve a balanced mind, body, and spirit, ensure that each area is working cohesively together.
Solopreneur Work/Life Balance
If you're a solopreneur, you can assess personal fulfillment through work/life balance.
- Does your work fully support your personal life?
- Are you satisfied with the professional and personal aspects of your life?
- Are you excelling in your work while living life in a way that suits you?
As a solopreneur, it's crucial to maintain a harmonious relationship between your work and personal life. If you're not a solopreneur, but your career plays a significant role in your life, then this assessment will be useful for you too.
Additional methods for assessing personal fulfillment
These are merely three examples of how you can measure personal fulfillment. You can evaluate your life using entirely different perspectives on personal fulfillment. Experiment with various methods to find the one that resonates with you.
Remember that the journey to personal fulfillment is unique for everyone, but understanding where you stand is a crucial first step. Keep exploring, growing, and never stop seeking happiness and purpose in your life.
