Sponsorship of Safe Teen Driving by General Motors Reaches 4,600 Schools Instantly
In One Instant, a leading national teen safe driving program based in Los Angeles, is making a significant impact on the lives of young people across the United States. With a core focus on reducing traffic-related incidents through promoting safe driving behaviors, the program has been recommended by Carey M. Wright, former Mississippi State Superintendent of Education, to every school district in Mississippi.
The program, which has been supported by General Motors (GM) for over six years, offers a free-of-charge service for schools. In One Instant's Founder and President Gail Schenbaum stated that their collaboration with GM has educated students about safe driving behaviors and fostered a culture of safety within their families and neighborhoods. Alexis Brandl, Transportation Portfolio Lead for Corporate Giving at GM, echoed this sentiment, stating that GM's collaboration with In One Instant is helping drive their vision of a safer world.
The program, which can be contacted for press information and schools interested in implementing it through Dahlia Greer at [email protected], uses an evidence-based approach that has been praised for its impact and effectiveness in creating a culture of safety among young drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. In One Instant's program aims to make distracted, reckless, and impaired driving personal and relevant to teens, instilling lifelong safe driving habits in them and reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.
To date, 871,250 students have successfully completed the program in GM communities. The program's upcoming event in Wyoming is dedicated to Indigenous youth and is coordinated with the National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) and the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Drug and alcohol impaired driving is a core component of this event.
The program has had a significant impact on students and school administrators, as reported by a high school junior from Dallas, Texas, a school principal from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an In One Instant Program Guest Speaker. The goal of In One Instant is to surpass 1 million students by 2025.
In One Instant uses virtual reality to simulate the consequences of distracted driving and other unsafe behaviors, providing a powerful and immersive learning experience for students. The program's success in promoting safe driving behaviors is a testament to its innovative approach and commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people.
