Seasoned Professionals Ewering and Wessling Take Top Communication Roles at DGAP and MERICS

Wiebke Ewering, a seasoned communications professional with a double Master's degree in Political Science and European Studies, has taken the helm as Head of Press and Communications at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). Meanwhile, Claudia Wessling, a veteran journalist with a diverse academic background and expertise in Asia, serves as Director of Communications and Publications at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS).

Ewering's impressive educational background includes degrees from Freie Universität Berlin and Sciences Po Paris. She brings a wealth of experience to DGAP, having previously held roles at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and the Dahrendorf Forum. In her new position, she oversees all aspects of external communication for the council.

Wessling's career path is equally distinguished. She studied Chinese, Indonesian, and economics in Bonn, Wuhu, Yogyakarta, and science journalism in Berlin. Before joining MERICS, she worked as an editor and correspondent for German politics at Agence France-Presse in Berlin. Her expertise in mathematics, information technology, and digitalization, coupled with her journalistic prowess and Asia focus, makes her an invaluable addition to MERICS.

Ewering's appointment at DGAP and Wessling's role at MERICS bring a wealth of experience and expertise to these influential institutions. Their backgrounds and skills are expected to significantly contribute to their respective organizations' communication strategies and overall impact.
