Sault Ste. Marie & Brandon Unveil Priority Sectors for Canada's Rural Community Immigration Pilot
Two more Canadian communities, Sault Ste. Marie and Brandon, have revealed their priority sectors and occupations for the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP). This employer-driven pathway to permanent residence in Canada aims to help rural communities address labour shortages by attracting foreign nationals.
Sault Ste. Marie has been allocated 300 spots for the RCIP in 2025, with priority sectors including education, law and social services, health, manufacturing and utilities, sales and service, and trades and transport. Brandon, on the other hand, has been allocated 180 slots, with 15% dedicated to the healthcare sector. The RCIP will stop accepting applications once it reaches its annual cap. To be eligible, foreign nationals must have a job offer from an employer operating within specific priority sectors and meet certain criteria related to work experience, education, language proficiency, proof of funds, and intent to reside in the community. The RCIP is a five-year pilot program that requires employers to be designated under the initiative.
With the release of these priority sectors and occupations, potential applicants can now better understand the opportunities available in Sault Ste. Marie and Brandon through the RCIP. Interested candidates are encouraged to regularly check official sources for updates and to contact the communities directly for more information.
