Rolls-Royce Exec Joins NMIS Board to Boost Manufacturing Expertise

Neil Mantle, currently serving as group director of manufacturing engineering and materials at Rolls-Royce, has been appointed to the board of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS). The appointment brings extensive global expertise in manufacturing, engineering, strategy, and execution to the NMIS board.

Mantle's appointment was welcomed by Professor Sir Jim McDonald, chair of the NMIS board, who praised his knowledge and senior industrial experience. Chris Courtney, CEO of NMIS, also expressed enthusiasm, highlighting Mantle's industrial insight and challenge he will bring to the NMIS executive team.

Mantle's commitment to innovation, skills development, and building supply chains is well-established. He has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Electrical Safety Council and led supply chain businesses in the aerospace and automotive sectors. Currently, he leads Rolls-Royce's strategic partnership with the University of Strathclyde and sits on the advisory board of the skills charity Enginuity. His involvement with NMIS is not new; he was formerly the chair of the advisory board for the University of Strathclyde's Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), the NMIS founding centre.

Neil Mantle's appointment to the NMIS board is expected to strengthen the institute's capabilities in manufacturing and engineering. His global expertise and commitment to innovation will contribute to delivering meaningful outcomes for businesses and the wider economy, as he himself expressed his honor and eagerness to work with colleagues towards this goal.
