Revised Project in Rheydt: Cycle Education Through SKM - Learning How to Bike
The city of Mönchengladbach, in partnership with PariTeam gGmbH, is set to launch a new cycling course for adults as part of the "Rheydt inclusive" project. The aim of this initiative is to make inclusion tangible in everyday life, and the cycling course will provide a safe and supportive environment for adults to learn or improve their cycling skills.
The cycling course, scheduled to commence on September 2, will take place at Waisenhaus Grundschule, opposite the SKM Mönchengladbach. The course will consist of ten to twelve sessions, held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4 to 5:30 PM.
Volunteer bike mentors are sought for the course, with new trainers being prepared and paired up to lead the sessions. Registration for the course begins on August 5, and the participation fee is set at 15 euros.
The previous course saw eight participants learn to ride a bike in ten sessions. Some participants, including one who learned to ride a bike for the first time, expressed satisfaction with the course, with one participant describing her experience as being shown much patience and feeling proud of herself.
The working group "Learning to ride a bike for adults" includes volunteers, SKM Mönchengladbach, and family basic schools. The "Rheydt inclusive" project is funded by Aktion Mensch and MAGS NRW.
During the course, participants will receive training in safe cycling in traffic-calmed areas. The cycling course is designed to provide adults with the confidence and skills needed to cycle in a variety of situations, promoting active and sustainable transportation in the city.
If you are interested in volunteering as a bike mentor or registering for the course, it is recommended to check local official sources such as the Mönchengladbach city website, local sports clubs, cycling associations, or community centers. Local event calendars or social media groups related to cycling in Mönchengladbach could also have up-to-date announcements.
