Refurbished Mocioni Mansion Transforms into Cultural Hub in Western Romania, Following a €2.4 Million Restoration Project
Hailed as a spectacle, the ancient Mocioni Manor in Foeni, a quaint commune approximately 43 km south of Timișoara, is set for a radical transformation into a cultural hub, following a EUR 2.4 million renovation project declared by the Culture Ministry.

The remodeling operation was orchestrated by the Timiș County Council in collaboration with the Timișoara Intercultural Institute and North Consulting (Iceland), backed by the Project Management Unit of the Ministry of Culture.
Over the past two years, this grand Victorian edifice has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, focusing on its historical elements, with further restoration work on the horizon. The inner courtyards will be paved, verdant landscapes created, marble staircases restored, and accommodations, a professional kitchen, and a café installed.
Enticing visitors to explore the county's historical treasures, the local authorities intend to include the Mocioni Manor in a tourist route that encompasses the region's other notable mansions, castles, and landmarks.
"First of a kind! This opulent manor will lay the groundwork for an aspiring tourist route showcasing the region's mansions, castles, churches, and landmarks. By investing in culture, education, art, and our history, we are meeting our vital obligations. The Mocioni Manor is merely the beginning; we have Banloc, Jamu Mare, Parța, and more localities on our radar," boasted Alfred Simonis, president of the Timiș County Council.
Once restored, the public can expect to explore a museum area, a digital library adorned with historical documents concerning the mansion's illustrious owners, and an upcoming temporary exhibition by the renowned artist Silviu Oravitzan.
Crafted in a Neoclassical style in approximately 1750, the architect Mor Kallina penned the blueprints for the Mocioni Manor.
The Mocioni family, of Aromanian descent, immigrated to Hungary and established themselves in Banat. Politicians, philanthropists, and advocates of Romanian culture, they left a lasting imprint on the region's annals.
