Pupils now carry out intensive study for spring exams instead of during winter months in Russian educational settings.

Pupils adjust their study plans for upcoming spring exams, as opposed to the traditional winter period.

Preparing for the Unified State Exam (USE) and General State Exam (GSE) has shifted online, courtesy of websites and apps offering trial tasks, diverse subjects practice, and online schools. These services have seen a surge in popularity – a 39% increase in users since early 2025, with a staggering 63% boost in traffic.

However, it's the ladies leading the charge, with girls accounting for a whopping 58% of the online exam crowd. Interestingly, the number of male students adopting these services has also grown, by 43% compared to last year, versus a 35% increase among females.

Looking at the ebb and flow of exam preparation, it seems students cool off during the summer months, showing a sharp decline in activity on educational platforms in July and August, much like a traditional end to summer vacation vibe. The peak of active study periods is when students return to school in September, but the numbers dwindle in the fall and winter months. The trend, however, shows that both girls and boys kickstart their prepping sessions around the same time.

Students in Magadan, Salekhard, Birobidzhan, Grozny, and Pskov are at the forefront of online exam preparation – these cities register the highest traffic on educational resources.

As for broader trends, digital education assessments and technology adoption insights suggest that advancements in online exam preparation for the USE and GSE may vary by region due to differences in internet access and digital device availability. Moreover, gender-specific preferences, along with self-regulated learning and technology use habits, might contribute to differences in preparation strategies. Lastly, seasonal trends demonstrate a spike in demand for online exam preparation in the months leading up to exams, which for these exams usually fall in late spring or early summer.

Online preparation tools tend to emphasize personalized, self-regulated learning, offering up-to-date, localized content. Offline accessibility and distraction-free interfaces ensure students can prepare anytime and anywhere, with realistic simulations and instant feedback to improve exam readiness and confidence.

The rise of artificial intelligence and automation could refine the quality and efficiency of Russian exam prep markets, aligning with broader educational technology trends.

Education and self-development are key aspects for students preparing for the Unified State Exam (USE) and General State Exam (GSE), with learning happening constantly through various online platforms offering practice tasks, diverse subject matter, and online schools. These educational resources, including personalized, self-regulated learning tools with up-to-date and localized content, have also sparked interest in regions such as Magadan, Salekhard, Birobidzhan, Grozny, and Pskov.
