Pupil Accusing Academic Taunt From NIS Teacher Confesses in a Local Almaty School
In Almaty, a student who was expelled from Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS) reportedly for insulting a teacher has secured admission to State Gymnasium No.8, according to information received by our correspondent from the city's education department.
A source from the department stated, "He was accepted into State Gymnasium No.8 based on his residence and passed his first final exam today. Upon completing all exams, he will receive his diploma and graduate."
The incident at NIS, which occurred on May 23, resulted in the expulsion of an 11th-grade student. The student was found using a phone during class and indulging in verbal abuse against a teacher. The school council's decision to expel the student was justified, as stated by NIS Chairman Anuar Zhanabayev.
Following the expulsion, the student recorded a video message to the president expressing remorse while accusing the school director of spreading false information about him. He was later hospitalized, and the regional children's rights commissioner confirmed this.
NIS insisted that their stance on the matter remained unchanged, while the Minister of Education also weighed in on the issue. Despite the expulsion, the student has now been admitted to another reputable institution in Almaty.
It is common for disciplinary transfers to occur when a student is expelled from one institution; however, the admission into another school may be subject to the school's policies and the severity of the incident. In this case, the specifics of the situation with the student are not widely known, as there are no noteworthy reports or confirmations of this case up to late 2023.
- Despite being expelled from Nazarbayev Intellectual School for a controversial incident involving verbal abuse against a teacher, the student has, surprisingly, been admitted to the prestigious State Gymnasium No.8.
