According to a recent survey by the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK), an astonishing 93% of apprentices laud the workplace atmosphere in their respective companies, and an impressive 87% would recommender their training experience within the company. The survey, which included over 1,200 first-year apprentices in Thuringia between March and April 2025, reveals a compelling picture of training in the region.

Unveiled in the survey, 80% of respondents submitted no more than five applications to secure a training position, with 40% landing an opportunity with a single application. However, the booming market for apprenticeships poses a challenge to training companies. Despite this, hundreds of training positions remain unfilled at the beginning of each new training year, as per Fahlbusch. As of the end of March 2025, there were more than 10,300 training positions in Thuringia, with approximately 6,900 still vacant, according to the responsible regional office of the Federal Employment Agency.
On the flip side, there's a need for improvement in aspects like housing and subsidies for apprentices. Furthermore, she advocates for a reinstatement of travel cost subsidies for apprentices, which were previously abolished.
