Spilling the Beans on Oxford SU's Student Advice Team
Get a glimpse into the world of Oxford SU's Student Advice service with Hannah Winslade, a dedicated Student Adviser. This service is all about offering students independent, confidential support as they navigate the complexities of collegiate University processes. From responding to misconduct allegations to submitting mitigating circumstances applications, the team's got you covered—via email, appointments, and even attending meetings with students.
Introducing Hannah
Hannah has been part of this team since July 2024, switching from part-time to full-time in October of the same year. With a focus on helping students, her roles have been as varied as Students' Union training, student-led democracy, and even interim capacity support for SU Advice Services at a consultancy company. Currently, she's studying for her MSc in Mental Health.
Projects in Motion
The team is currently revamping the Oxford SU website to make more advice and information accessible for students to 'self-serve', allowing them to focus on providing more tailored guidance to those with complex circumstances or specific needs.
Life as a Student Adviser
For Hannah, there's nothing more rewarding than knowing she's made a difference for a student dealing with a challenging situation. Whether it's making the process less daunting or helping a student successfully advocate for themselves, it's all about making an impact.
A Surprising Side
What might surprise people is the wide range of policies the team advises on. With over 400 different policies, they're well-versed in all aspects of the collegiate University environment.
