Position Vacant: Fisheries and Aquaculture Extension Professor Position in Extension
The University of Minnesota Sea Grant College Program is seeking a Fisheries and Aquaculture Extension Educator/Assistant Extension Professor to join their team. This position requires working closely with various stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture industries, including commercial and recreational fisheries, aquaculture industries, and community partners.
The role involves delivering extension education, outreach, and applied research to support sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices. Responsibilities include designing and implementing extension and outreach activities, collaborating with scientists and community partners, and conducting applied research.
The successful candidate will have an advanced degree (usually a Master's or PhD) in fisheries, aquatic sciences, aquaculture, or a closely related field. They should also have expertise in fisheries biology, aquaculture science, or a related discipline. Experience in extension, outreach, or educational program delivery, as well as strong communication skills, are essential for working effectively with diverse audiences.
The position involves collaborating with other Minnesota Sea Grant staff, U of M extension educators, and Sea Grant extension educators across the Great Lakes and nation. The preferred candidate should have experience and knowledge in fisheries and aquaculture.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded program within three years of joining the staff, generating at least 25% of their annual salary. They will also be responsible for conducting periodic needs assessments among various communities to determine program priorities and developing and leading extension programs addressing diverse communities.
