Park University Honors Academic Accomplishments from 2019-2020 Academic Year
At the 2019-20 Honours Convocation, Park University recognised its faculty and students for their outstanding scholarly efforts and leadership. Among the recipients were several individuals who were honoured for their exceptional contributions to teaching, research, and student life.
Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award
The Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award was established by Manuchair Ebadi, Ph.D., a 1960 Park graduate, in honour of Delta W. Gier, Ph.D., a former chair of the Department of Chemistry who served Park from 1948 to 1990. This year, the award was presented to Yongzhi Wang, Ph.D., assistant professor of computer science and information systems.
Another recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award was Glenn Lester, assistant professor of English. This award was established by Ebadi to honour Woodbridge O. Johnson, Ph.D., professor emeritus and chair of religion and Biblical literature at Park from 1946 to 1966.
Teaching Excellence Awards
The Teaching Excellence Awards were presented to two dedicated educators. Jack MacLennan, Ph.D., assistant professor of political science, received the President's Award for Teaching Excellence for full-time faculty. Lynn Richardson-Ludwigs, adjunct instructor of art, was awarded the Provost's Award for Teaching Excellence for adjunct faculty.
Student Leadership Awards
Two outstanding students were recognised for their leadership roles. Christian Leonard, a senior mathematics major from Parkville, Missouri, served as the Park Student Government Association (PSGA) president during the 2019-20 academic year. Previously, Jesse Patrick, a senior information and computer science major from Independence, Missouri, held the position during the 2018-19 academic year.
Both Leonard and Patrick were also awarded the Outstanding Parkite Award for their significant contributions to the university community. However, the specific details of these contributions were not available in the public domain. For the most accurate and detailed information, it is recommended to contact Park University's student affairs office or check their official announcements or archives.
