Official Expresses Interest in Mold in Centuries-Old School near Omsk

Alexander Bastrykin, head of Russia's Investigative Committee, has ordered the initiation of a criminal investigation into reported violations of student rights in a school in the village of Luzino, Omsk Region. This was announced in a press release on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

A concerned resident of Omsk Region brought the matter to the attention of the Investigative Committee through social media, expressing her concerns about the state of a school in Luzino built in 1921, which is unfit for habitation by children. The building's roof is damaged, and the building floods regularly. As a result, mold has spread throughout the classrooms, potentially having a negative impact on the health of the students. Parental complaints have thus far yielded no results, according to the Investigative Committee's statement.

Bastrykin has instructed the head of the Omsk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee, Vitally Batsichev, to initiate the criminal investigation and report back with preliminary and final findings from the investigation.

It is worth noting that the school in question could be considered a historical landmark, as it has been standing for 104 years.
