Norton Joins Digital Citizenship Initiative to Fight Cyberbullying and Teach AI Safety
The Digital Citizenship Initiative, a joint effort by Discovery Education and various tech giants, is tackling crucial online issues like cyberbullying and digital privacy. With Norton's recent involvement, the initiative aims to equip students with essential digital skills, particularly in the age of AI.
The initiative, which has already reached nearly 415,000 students through My Digital Life, a resource center by Norton and Discovery Education, is set to launch AI-focused classroom resources in the fourth quarter. These resources will support safe student engagement with AI, a topic of growing concern as research shows that two in five U.S. children use AI for companionship, alarming many parents.
Despite the potential of AI to enhance learning, only two-thirds of students believe it can help them learn faster, and fewer than half of teachers report using AI in their classrooms. Meanwhile, nearly one in four U.S. kids experience cyberbullying, and over a quarter turn to AI for emotional support. The Digital Citizenship Initiative addresses these challenges with ready-to-use materials, digital lessons, and videos, released quarterly and accessible via digitalcitizenship.our and Discovery Education Experience.
Norton's partnership with the Digital Citizenship Initiative brings together leading tech companies like Verizon, Fortinet, AT&T, and Cisco to support AI education and digital skills training. With the launch of AI-focused classroom resources, the initiative continues to empower students to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely.
