Nine Hells' Rulers: A Deep Dive into Soul Management

Hell's Archdukes and Archduchesses, each ruling a layer of the Nine Hells, oversee various aspects of soul management. Recent revelations shed light on their unique roles and responsibilities.

Glasya, Archduchess of Malbolge, secretly commands the Coin Legions, while Mammon, Archduke of Minauros, profits from soul trade, selling or forging them into soul coins. Levistus, imprisoned prince of Stygia, serves as an example of a god denied access to soul-wells.

In Phelegethos, Fierna and Belial oversee pleasure places, using souls as 'stock'. Mephistopheles, the Philosopher King of Cania, focuses on acquiring souls of arcanists to expand his vast storehouses of lore. Asmodeus, the original architect of Hell's soul engines, now imposes quotas but doesn't engage in the trade himself.

Cania houses the arcane machineries that maintain the Nine Hells' alignment with soul-wells. Zariel, Archduchess of Avernus, uses souls to raise devils for the Blood War. Dispater, Archduke of Dis, extracts secrets from souls to corrupt or blackmail mortals. Baalzebul, Archduke of Maladomini, oversees Hell's courts and records contracts between fiends and mortals.

The Raven Queen, responsible for souls in the Shadowfell, adds another layer to this complex system. Each ruler's role in the soul trade and management shapes the intricate tapestry of the Nine Hells.
