First National Physics Regatta Held Successfully

Central University and T-Bank organized the first national Physics Regatta, a competition for talented eighth-grade students from across the country. Held over three stages, the event featured over 1,000 participants and culminated in a final round attended by 300 students.

A New Breed of Intellectual Competition

The Physics Regatta is a unique, sailing-themed competition that challenges teams of four to complete a series of physics tasks within 15 minutes. Organized in sections like basic science, mechanics, heat, and electricity, the event also features demonstration tasks where participants analyze videos of physical phenomena. This novel competition format is based on a multimedia physics textbook developed by Professors Alexander Fishman and Andrei Skvortsov.

The competition was judged by a panel of esteemed experts, including compilers and jury members of the All-Russian Olympiad, doctors and candidates of physical-mathematical sciences, and winners and prize-winners of the final of the All-Russian Physics Olympiad for schoolchildren.

Rector of Central University, Yevgeny Ivashkevich, stated that supporting educational initiatives of key partners is strategically important for the university, as they seek out promising students for higher education.

A Platform for Talent Discovery

Teams from various regions, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Penza, and more, participated in the online selection process. The top three teams were from "Lyceum 'Vtoraya Shkola' named after Ovsyannikov" (Moscow), School No. 57 (Moscow), and Lyceum No. 9 (Belgorod). Seven more talented young physicists' teams from Korolev, Saratov, Dolgoprudny, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, and Moscow won honorable mentions. Each team member received a winner's certificate and a gift set from T-Education and the Central University.

According to Varvara Smirnova, director of T-Education, the focus is on fostering mental flexibility, problem-solving skills, and mastery of complex concepts among students. T-Education aims to popularize mathematics, programming, and artificial intelligence technologies and has announced plans to launch physics olympiad preparation circles, summer physics and mathematics camps, and free intensive courses in mathematics, physics, and informatics, as well as the integration of physics tasks into the Chislo T online trainer in their app.
