Mentorship Project Marks 15-Year Milestone with 45 Volunteers
The Mentorship Project, assisting young and disadvantaged individuals in their transition from school to local volunteering, has reached a significant milestone. The AGiL organization's Working Promotion Society celebrated the project's 15-year anniversary, honouring the commitment of its 45 volunteers. Initially funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation and later by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, the project has grown substantially. Since 2008, around 300 mentorships, or 'tandems', have been realized, with mentors acting as door openers, companions, and advisors in both professional and personal development. First Deputy District Administrator Silke Engler thanked the volunteers for their tireless efforts, patience, and dedication. This year alone, 400 students participated in the 'Fit for Job Interviews' training sessions, practicing around 400 simulated job interviews in cooperation with ten general and vocational schools in the region. The project coordinators wish for more volunteers, preferably with a background in crafts or health and care, to support the project. Interested individuals can contact the Arbeitsförderungsgemeinschaft in Kassel for the latest information on the project coordinator.
