Marina Bay Sands Introduces Hospitality Scholarship Program
Marina Bay Sands Offers $1 Million Scholarship to Develop Local Skills and Talent
Ready for a career in tourism and hospitality? Good news! The luxurious Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is launching a scholarship program, backed by a cool million bucks from its parent company, Las Vegas Sands. Over 100 local students stand to benefit from this initiative.
According to the casino corporation, this scholarship program is an integral part of their global program, Sands Cares, designed to bolster the hospitality sector and cultivate a skilled workforce. The program is aimed at students attending six institutes of higher learning in Singapore, including Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, and more.
Under this program, eligible students will receive scholarships that cover learning expenses, allowing them to fund courses, purchase books, and participate in exchange programs. The program is set to run for at least three years and will commence next year.
Encouraging Future Hospitality Stars
In a statement, Paul Town, the chief operating officer of Marina Bay Sands, emphasized their commitment to nurturing local hospitality talents. With over thousands of employees already working in diverse roles, the venue hopes to groom the next generation of skilled hospitality professionals.
"We're always on the lookout for the brightest talents to join us in our next stage of growth," Town said, "and the scholarship is intended to encourage more to chart their paths in this burgeoning industry."
In a bid to attract more talent to the sector, Marina Bay Sands previously held a two-day walk-in recruitment fair, promising to hire 2,000 new workers. The entire recruitment process was simplified, making it easier for aspiring workers to join the company.
Las Vegas Sands' Previous Scholarship Initiatives
Though there's no specific Marina Bay Sands scholarship program, Las Vegas Sands has a history of supporting students through the Sands Hospitality Advancement Scholarships. The company partners with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to offer scholarships to students attending HACU-member schools.
In 2025, HACU and Las Vegas Sands awarded scholarships to 13 students from institutions like the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of North Texas, College of Southern Nevada, and Dallas College. The objective of these scholarships is to develop and attract new talent to the hospitality industry. Las Vegas Sands aims to invest $200 million in workforce development between 2021 and 2025, with a focus on enhancing industry knowledge and skills.
