Last Christian Family Flees Gupanpal Village After Brutal Assaults and Threats

In a distressing turn of events, the last Christian family in Gupanpal village, Sukma District, has been forced to flee after facing brutal assaults and threats for refusing to renounce their faith. The family, led by 35-year-old Aayatu Ram Podiyami, has not seen their two young daughters for over a month since the incident on February 12.

The trouble began when Aayatu's father, Mangu Ram Podiyami, was assaulted twice for his Christian beliefs. The second attack left him severely injured and hospitalized. The family called for help, but villagers prevented the ambulance from transporting Mangu to safety. Aayatu hid in the jungle, fearing for his life, before reporting the assault to police. However, no formal complaint was registered, and village leaders repeated their ultimatum: recant the faith or be expelled.

Meanwhile, another Christian family in the village returned to their tribal religion after witnessing the brutal assault. The couple, with two young children, have been missing since the attack, with no evidence of government intervention to ensure their safety or facilitate their return.

The Christian family from Gupanpal village remains separated, with the couple's two young daughters unaccounted for over a month. Despite the assaults and threats, Aayatu Ram Podiyami continues to stand by his faith. The Chhattisgarh government's response to this matter remains unclear, with no public evidence of action taken to protect the family or ensure their safe return.
