Kazakhstan's 2025-2026 School Year: September 2 to May 25 with 40 Weeks of Instruction
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced the calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year in secondary education institutions. The year will commence on September 2 and conclude on May 25, spanning 40 weeks of instruction and several breaks.
The academic year is divided into four quarters, each containing 8 weeks of instruction, except for the fourth quarter which has 9 weeks. The first quarter begins on September 2 and ends on November 22, followed by an 8-week second quarter from November 25 to January 25, 2026.
Spring break is scheduled for 11 calendar days, from March 19 to 29, 2026. First graders enjoy an additional 7 calendar days of break from February 9 to 15, 2026. Autumn break is 7 calendar days long, from October 27 to November 2, while winter break spans 10 calendar days, from December 29, 2025 to January 7, 2026.
The 2025-2026 academic year in Kazakhstan's secondary education institutions will have a total of 40 weeks of instruction, with breaks totalling 25 calendar days. This includes spring break, autumn break, winter break, and an additional break for first graders.
