Kamchatka's 2025 Calendar Marks Key Anniversaries and Honours Local Heroes

Kamchatka's 'Calendar of Notable Dates' for 2025 is out, marking significant anniversaries and honouring key figures. Compiled by archivist Amir Khadzhi, the electronic version is available on the State Archive of Kamchatka's website.

The calendar commemorates the 30th anniversary of the creation of South Kamchatka, Nalychevo, and Bystrinsky Nature Reserves, celebrating the preservation of Kamchatka's unique landscapes. It also marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Victory Parade, honouring the resilience and sacrifice of Kamchatka's people.

Among the notable anniversaries, the calendar highlights the 50th anniversary of Elizovo being granted city status, reflecting the growth and development of Kamchatka's urban centres. It pays tribute to participants in the Great Patriotic War, such as Faddey Elantsyev, and individuals who contributed to Kamchatka's development, including Ivan Larine and Vitaly Kruchina.

The calendar also celebrates cultural figures like painter Felix Tebiev and journalist Valeria Martynenko, acknowledging their contributions to Kamchatka's rich cultural heritage. Additionally, it marks the 80th anniversary of the opening of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Sea Port and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the regional department of ZAGS, highlighting key milestones in Kamchatka's history.
