Bethany Clark, a South Australian writer and editor, has made a splash in the children's literature world with her two picture books, "You've Got Yoghurt in Your Nostrils" and "Little Love List."

The inspiration for "You've Got Yoghurt in Your Nostrils" came from Clark's son's messy meals, which she decided to celebrate rather than clean up. The playful title normalizes the mess that often accompanies meals for babies, encouraging children to embrace the fun and chaos of mealtime. Clark's husband suggested she document these memorable moments, leading to the creation of this unique book.

"You've Got Yoghurt in Your Nostrils" is not just a fun read but also a subtle feminist manifesto. Clark's publisher appreciated her subversive approach and supported her in publishing the book.

Clark's second book, "Little Love List," was inspired by bedtime conversations where she and her son would list all the ways they loved each other. This sweet picture book captures the magic of everyday moments and aims to normalize the daily rollercoaster of emotions experienced by families with small children.

When she's not writing, Clark can be found unwinding and writing in Stansbury, Yorke Peninsula, SA. In fact, she plans to start writing retreats at her house later this year, inviting fellow writers to join her in this picturesque location.

If Clark wasn't writing picture books, she might have pursued professional photography or painting instead. However, her passion for capturing everyday experiences with small children, both the challenging and hilarious moments, has led her to become a successful author.

Clark's books are a testament to her ability to turn everyday life into engaging stories that resonate with parents and children alike. With "You've Got Yoghurt in Your Nostrils" and "Little Love List," she has created a lasting impact in the children's literature world, encouraging readers to embrace the messiness and love that comes with parenthood.

Bethany Clark's literary works delve into various aspects of family-dynamics and home-and-garden, as seen in her books inspired by personal experiences with her son. Her unique style of storytelling extends into personal-growth and education-and-self-development, turning daily occurrences into opportunities for entertainment and subtle feminist expressions. Aside from writing, Clark envisions her house becoming a hub for outdoor-living and creativity, hosting writers on retreats. During her free time, she contemplates delving into other art forms like photography or painting.
