Institution Embraces Innovative Projection Mapping Techniques

On a chilly evening of March 19, 2021, the auditorium of an institution came alive with a spectacle of light and colour as Level-4 Communication Design Students, in collaboration with Aman Arora's Magical Theatre, presented the first-ever projection mapping show on campus. The event, part of a weeklong workshop-based project called 'The Magic of Communication', showcased a series of digital narratives that captivated the audience with their creativity and innovation.

The show featured videos created by five student teams, each consisting of five students. Each video was a unique blend of illustration, art, photography, culture, music, and sound, meticulously crafted to tell compelling stories. One of the videos, titled 'How you Blobbin'?', offered a melodramatic, comical ride, while another, simply named 'Bindu', remained shrouded in mystery.

The show 'Dustnaane-Ki-Daastan' was a poignant reminder of the importance of using and re-using resources to prevent waste. The character Bindu in this show has taken lakir (line), akriti (shape), and akar (form) under her wings, symbolising the nurturing of creativity and innovation.

'Ends Meet', another show in the lineup, celebrated diversity and unity, though the search results do not specify which student or student group created this project. The show 'In the Clouds' was a surrealistic representation of an aspiring designer's life, highlighting the challenges, conquests, failures, and wins that come with the pursuit of this creative journey.

The Magical Theatre team provided technical support for the project, ensuring the seamless execution of the projection mapping technique, a 3D video projection method that projects virtual images on irregularly-shaped and non-flat surfaces. This cutting-edge technology added an extra dimension to the visual experience, making the show a truly immersive event.

The projection mapping show was a testament to the creativity, innovation, and technical prowess of the students and the Magical Theatre team. It was a night of storytelling like no other, leaving the audience in awe of the power of communication and the limitless potential of the human imagination.
