To participate, students from primary, middle, special needs, economic, real, technical, and vocational schools, as well as gymnasiums in Bavaria, are required to present a copy of their annual report and a valid ID. Eligibility criteria include students who have achieved at least one "1", "Excellent", equivalent high score, or outstanding oral evaluation in their annual report.
The action includes DB Regio trains and all other railway companies in Bavaria, making it a comprehensive network for students to travel. The action is not limited to a specific type of public transport in Bavaria, allowing students to use buses, trams, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and other local transport networks.
The action is available to students in all regions of Bavaria, and students can travel free of charge on all second-class public transport in Bavaria between 00:00 and 24:00 on August 1, 2025. This means students can travel border-near, with free rides possible up to Lauda, Crailsheim, Ulm Hbf, Sonneberg (Thür) Hbf, Salzburg Hbf, Kufstein, along the Außerfernbahn to Reutte, and on the Memmingen - Wangen - Hergatz route.
