Industry-Academia Gathering at VELS HR Conclave 2025 Aims to Mold Future Workforce
The HR Conclave 2025, organised by VELS Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies (VISTAS) in Chennai, served as a significant industry-academia platform aimed at shaping the workforce of tomorrow. Themed "Campus to Corporate: Preparing the Next Generation Workforce," the event brought together over 180 HR professionals, industry experts, faculty, and students to foster strategic knowledge exchange and collaboration between academia and the corporate sector.
The event emphasised the importance of future-ready education and industry-aligned curricula to enhance employability skills. The Vice President of VELS Group highlighted the institution's commitment to nurturing adaptive leaders for the modern workforce.
A thought-provoking panel discussion, moderated by a Zoho Corporation leader, was a major highlight. HR professionals from leading companies like TCS, HCL GUVI, Renault Nissan, and Schwing Stetter participated, focusing on the critical role of skill development in cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, Six Sigma, and data-driven technologies to improve workforce readiness.
By facilitating direct interaction between academia and industry leaders, the event addressed the skills gap by aligning educational outcomes with practical industry needs, helping bridge the divide from academic learning to corporate requirements.
The HR Conclave led to several impactful outcomes, including over 50 leading companies engaging with the university and more than 10 MoUs for student placements, internships, and collaborative training programs. Vels University, recognised for its strong placement record and industry-relevant curriculum, successfully hosted the event.
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Vels University is ranked 64th nationwide. VISTAS, a NAAC A++ accredited deemed-to-be university, offers 11 NBA-accredited programs and holds UGC 12(B) status. Admissions for the 2025 academic year are now open at Vels University.
Dr. Preethaa Ganesh, Vice President of the VELS Group of institutions, inaugurated the event and emphasised the importance of future-ready education, industry-aligned curriculum, and employability skills. The event established an international partnership with the Government of Penang, Malaysia, enabling student and faculty exchange programs. Over 100 students from Vels University secured placements in top multinational corporations, supported by the university's dedicated efforts to provide specialized industrial training programs.
