Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addresses Ahmedabad: Inaugurates Major Projects, Pays Tribute to Victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Monday, coinciding with the Ganesh Utsav. During his public address at Khodaldham Ground, the PM inaugurated and dedicated several significant projects, worth over Rs 7,800 crore in total.
The PM inaugurated projects under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme worth over Rs 1,000 crore. He also dedicated the gauge conversion of the 37 km Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Rail Line and the doubling of the 65 km Mahesana-Palanpur Rail Line, worth Rs 530 crore and Rs 580 crore respectively.
In addition, the PM dedicated the 40 km Bechraji-Ranuj section of railway projects, together worth over Rs 860 crore. He also inaugurated the localised production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant and the first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle, the 'e VITARA', by Suzuki.
The PM's speech was not devoid of references to India's recent military actions. He spoke about India's response to the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives earlier this year. He stated that India avenged Pahalgam in just 22 minutes and went hundreds of kilometres inside to attack the centre of terrorism.
The PM's remarks came shortly after Operation Sindoor, a complex, unconventional mission conducted by the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force in 2025. This operation involved precision missile and airstrikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, described this operation as symbolising the bravery of the Indian army and India's willpower.
The PM also drew a symbolic comparison between India's military strength and its civilisational values. He invoked Gujarat's spiritual and cultural heritage, referring to both Lord Krishna and Mahatma Gandhi.
In a poignant moment, the PM offered condolences to families affected by floods and cloudbursts in Gujarat. He also launched a new Stamps and Registration building in Ahmedabad and a State-Level Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar.
The PM's speech was a testament to his commitment to India's progress, both economically and militarily, while upholding the country's rich cultural heritage.
