If Josefa isn't elected, will she be taking parental leave instead?
Josefa von Hohenzollern Aims to Break Barriers in Leonberg Mayoral Race
Josefa von Hohenzollern, a determined woman in local politics, is making history as she runs for the mayoral election in Leonberg on September 28. If elected, she will become the first female mayor in the city.
Von Hohenzollern, currently holding a top position, is keen on demonstrating that women can excel in leadership roles, despite personal challenges. This resolve was tested earlier this year when Federal Minister of Housing Verena Hubertz faced numerous insults after announcing her pregnancy.
Von Hohenzollern herself recently gave birth to a healthy boy on July 31 at the Leonberg Hospital. Despite the new addition to her family, she remains committed to her professional duties, echoing the sentiment that one's office must be fully exercised.
The mayoral race in Leonberg is a five-way contest, with Marion Beck, Marisa Betzler, Tobias Degode, Willi Kerler, and Von Hohenzollern vying for the position. A potential runoff is scheduled for October 12.
Von Hohenzollern has stated that she will not focus more on the mother role if she wins the election. In fact, she plans to rule out taking parental leave, citing that a directly elected mayor has no claim to parental leave. She believes that the challenges of the mother role can be managed with her current office, without the need for specific measures to ensure compatibility.
Martin Georg Cohn (SPD) is no longer the mayor of Leonberg, leaving the position open for a new leader. Von Hohenzollern's family supports her in her political endeavors, and her life's plan is geared towards a career in local politics.
Von Hohenzollern's dedication to her work and her ambition to become the mayor of Leonberg have made her a favourite in the election, along with Marion Beck and Tobias Degode. The outcome of the election on September 28 will determine if Von Hohenzollern's aspirations become a reality, and if she will indeed make history as the first female mayor of Leonberg.
