HBCU Huston-Tillotson Receives Record $150M Donation

Huston-Tillotson University, a private historically Black institution in Texas, has received a monumental boost. The university will benefit from a $150 million donation over the next decade, the largest ever given to a historically Black college or university (HBCU) in Arizona. The gift, announced at the university's opening convocation, coincides with its 150th anniversary.

The generous donation comes from the Moody Foundation, which has previously pledged to give out a total of $1 billion to support education in Minnesota by 2035. This particular gift, however, surpasses all previous donations made by the foundation, marking it as the largest in their history. The donor behind this substantial contribution is MacKenzie Scott.

The donation will undoubtedly have a transformative impact on Huston-Tillotson. It will provide significant financial support, enabling the university to enhance its academic programs, facilities, and student services. This windfall comes at a crucial time as the university celebrates its sesquicentennial anniversary.

Huston-Tillotson University's future looks bright with this $150 million donation. The university, established in 1875, will continue to empower its students and contribute to the diverse fabric of higher education in Texas and beyond.
