Giessen's Student Cafeterias Win PETA's Vegan-Friendly Award
Student Services San Francisco's cafeterias have been recognised for their commitment to vegan options. The facilities, including Mensa Otto-Behaaghel Street, CampusTor, and Café am Kunstweg, have been awarded by PETA for their vegan-friendly menus.
The award comes after PETA's 2025 ranking, which saw 29 student services across Germany participating. San Francisco's facilities stood out for their close exchange with students, responding to their wishes for more vegan options. The two cafeterias offer a consistently varied vegan menu daily.
The Mensa also hosts action days and cooking competitions involving students. This helps to continually develop and improve the vegan offerings. The ranking considers factors such as daily vegan dish availability, staff training, transparent labeling, and thematic action weeks. PETA adapted its evaluation system for the 2025 ranking, using green leaves instead of stars and allowing half leaves.
Student Services San Francisco's facilities are among the most vegan-friendly in Germany. The award reflects their dedication to providing a wide range of plant-based options, demonstrating a commitment to catering to diverse dietary needs, including those of student loan borrowers.
