Funding of 15 million euros earmarked for social integration efforts
The Land-Owned Investment Package Baden-Württemberg Social Integration in the Neighborhood, launched by the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing in 2022, has allocated a significant sum of €15,387,000 for urban renewal projects this year.
This investment package offers financial assistance to cities and municipalities for the construction of new kindergarten facilities, community centers, libraries, and the renovation of existing ones. The funding will also be used for the development of playgrounds in urban renewal areas and the modernization of community houses, media libraries, or club rooms.
The aim of the Landes-SIQ is to preserve and create new places of encounter in town centers and neighborhoods. The prerequisite for funding is that the facility is located in an area of urban renewal and can be implemented quickly.
The investment package received a total of 68 applications from cities and municipalities with a total volume of around €72 million, making it oversubscribed by a factor of five this year. The Ministry of Regional Development and Housing has an email for the Press Office and a contact form for citizens for those interested in applying for funding.
So far, 25 cities and municipalities will receive funding this year, with Mühlacker, Schemmerhofen, and Nagold being among them. The further 24 cities and municipalities funded in 2024 are part of a total of 25 supported municipalities receiving €15.4 million for projects like kindergartens, community centers, and playgrounds. However, the specific names of the 24 additional municipalities beyond Mühlacker, Schemmerhofen, and Nagold are not listed explicitly in the provided search results.
Since its launch in 2022, the Land-Owned Investment Package Baden-Württemberg Social Integration in the Neighborhood has funded 81 municipalities with a total of €65 million. The package also offers funding for Education and Science, Early Childhood Education, and Family through the Investment Package BW Social Integration in the Neighborhood (IBW / Landes-SIQ).
The financial assistance can be claimed within four years, providing cities and municipalities with ample time to plan and execute their urban renewal projects. The Landes-SIQ aims to contribute to the preservation and creation of vibrant town centers and neighborhoods, fostering social integration and a sense of community.
