Foundation Organized by Concrete Rose Arranges Back-to-School Charity Event at Slaters Marketplace
The Concrete Rose Scholarship Foundation is preparing for a special event to support underserved girls and provide educational resources for local students in need. On Thursday, Aug. 21, the foundation will host a back-to-school fundraiser and supply drive at Slaters Market, located at 1552 Potomac Greens Drive in Alexandria.
The event is more than just a fundraiser; it's an opportunity for the community to come together and contribute to a brighter future. Scott Shirley, owner of Slaters Market, expressed his excitement for the event, stating, "This is more than just a fundraiser; it's a chance for the community to support youth and make a difference."
Andrea Walton, founder and CEO of The Concrete Rose Scholarship Foundation, encourages community members to bring new school supplies or make financial contributions during the event. Accepted donations include new or gently used backpacks, Chromebooks and chargers, pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters, pencil sharpeners, rulers, glue sticks, Post-it notes, composition books, 1-1/2-inch binders, page dividers, and loose-leaf paper.
All proceeds and donations from the event will go directly toward scholarships and educational support for students in Alexandria and beyond. Guests will enjoy light refreshments while having the opportunity to make a direct impact in preparing students for the academic year.
